Job Summary
The Director of Staff Development has oversight of the department’s facility educators and directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. The Director of Staff Development must be comfortable collaborating with other departments and be knowledgeable of adult learning concepts and competency models such as the Donna Wright Competency model for initial and ongoing competencies.

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.
Essential Functions
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and initial and ongoing education initiatives in the staff development department. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care for education at all levels from novice to expert. Provides oversight of student clinical rotations and other educational programs to include externship, apprenticeship, and others. Plans educational events to ensure regulatory readiness.

Minimum Education
Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required, master’s degree in nursing or education preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
BLS required.
Current NC RN License
Required Skills
Requires excellent skills in communication, educating, as well as critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must have excellent skills in organization, leadership, research, and mentoring. Conducts learning needs assessments, identifies gaps, and presents proposals to improve skill sets of staff/students. Must be able to supervise other educators and be a change agent.

Salary : $77,800 - $98,500
