Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join a local residential construction company. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring that projects stay within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality. You will also work with the purchasing team sourcing and negotiating contracts for labor and supplies.
Experience with on-site construction management will strongly be considered for those looking to learn a new skill in residential construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine materials, labor, and time requirements for homebuilding projects.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for residential construction, including labor, materials, and subcontractor services.
- Analyze and select suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Work closely with project managers and architects to identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor project changes and adjust estimates to reflect any variations in scope or design.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including clients and suppliers.
- Assist in bid preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, material costs, and construction practices to ensure the most current information is used in estimates.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate project timelines and cost projections.
- Review and approve subcontractor quotes, including negotiations and contract terms.
- Collaborate with the construction team to ensure estimates align with project schedules and overall project objectives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Estimator, Superintendent, or Construction Manager in residential construction or homebuilding.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
