Role Overview
As a Land Development Manager, you will supervise and direct all aspects of community development, ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards. You will collaborate with department heads and external consultants on architectural design and site planning for land development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule Management: Oversee community and land schedules, ensuring all land activities are executed efficiently and meet quality control standards.
- Collaboration: Coordinate input from division executives regarding site and architectural design.
- Consultant Supervision: Manage relationships with outside consultants for architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and soils engineering.
- Reporting: Provide weekly reports detailing project progress, trade partner meetings, agency communications, problem resolution, and safety updates.
- Budget Management: Create and maintain site budgets, ensuring financial efficiency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with external consultants for various services.
- Feasibility Studies: Assist in the preparation of feasibility studies for new projects.
- Community Coordination: Manage DRE processing, CC&Rs, and set up Homeowners' Associations (HOAs), serving as a liaison and board member when necessary.
- Bond Management: Secure and manage the exoneration of necessary bonds.
- Permitting: Coordinate model complexes and conditional use permits.
- Operational Support: Provide support to the Operations Department during the construction process.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in community development, redevelopment, economic development, or housing (public agency, private company, or non-profit).
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in Urban Design, Planning, Real Estate, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in PC applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities and excellent writing skills.
- Driver’s License: Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
- Leadership Skills: Proven motivational, management, and organizational skills.
