Job Title: Project Structural Engineer
Location: On-Site, Frederick, MD
We are partnered with a builder seeking a skilled and dedicated Structural Engineer to join their Architectural Services Department. In this role, you will lead and oversee the completion of engineering projects, ensuring a smooth integration of design, strategy, and execution. You will have the opportunity to build a team of professionals, providing direction and guidance throughout the project. Your involvement will also extend to technical aspects, including the development of architectural construction documents and related documentation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review engineering and related documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Approve and seal documents as necessary, requiring a valid Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
- Track project schedules and ensure that timelines are adhered to. Collaborate with project coordinators and other team members to ensure the timely and successful completion of projects.
- Apply engineering concepts and designs to ensure the accuracy of project functions, minimizing the need for major design revisions or changes.
- Maintain and enforce high-quality technical standards while mentoring and guiding junior team members in achieving these benchmarks.
- Lead and provide technical advice on project issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as homebuilding, procurement, and manufacturing, as well as coordinating field repairs and construction methods with inspectors.
- Consult with experts, including structural engineers, architects, building code officials, and other specialists, to ensure accuracy and completeness of project documentation.
- Oversee work completed by third-party consultants as required.
- Opportunity to lead project teams of various engineering professionals in the successful completion of projects with varying scope and complexity. Manage and delegate work within the team while providing leadership and expertise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Active Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineering (SE) license in at least one state.
- 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 4 years as a licensed PE.
- Strong proficiency in structural design software such as iStruct, Digital Canal, Tekla Tedds.
- Experience in residential homebuilding and light wood frame construction.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and with MS Office products.
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction documents.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Well-developed problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior team members preferred.
