Job Overview:
The Vice President of Operations (VP) will oversee the entire operational process of the homebuilding division, ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This key leadership role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with a deep understanding of construction operations, cost control, team management, and customer satisfaction. The VP of Operations will collaborate with senior leadership to align operational goals with the overall business strategy, drive growth, and ensure consistent operational excellence across all projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership:
Lead, manage, and optimize all aspects of the homebuilding operations, including construction, land development, procurement, project management, and subcontractor relationships.
Ensure smooth execution of multiple projects by coordinating resources, managing schedules, and monitoring quality control.
- Strategic Planning & Execution:
Develop and implement operational strategies to meet corporate goals, enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Project Management & Delivery:
Oversee the execution of homebuilding projects from site acquisition through construction completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the client’s satisfaction.
Coordinate project timelines, manage milestones, and resolve any obstacles or delays.
- Team Development & Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing operations team, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
Ensure proper training and development for operational staff, promoting career growth and succession planning.
- Budget & Financial Management:
Establish and manage budgets for construction projects, ensuring cost control, efficiency, and adherence to financial targets.
Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining the quality of work and compliance with regulations.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Management:
Develop and manage relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and other key partners to ensure timely delivery of materials and services, and maintain high standards of performance.
Negotiate contracts and monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure all projects comply with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Proactively identify risks and implement solutions to mitigate potential delays, cost overruns, or safety incidents.
- Customer Satisfaction:
Oversee customer experience from pre-construction through final delivery, ensuring exceptional quality and communication.
Address customer concerns and feedback promptly, ensuring satisfaction throughout the homebuilding process.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED) is preferred.
- Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations leadership within the homebuilding or construction industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale homebuilding projects and teams.
- Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of homebuilding processes, from land acquisition to project completion.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Expertise in project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
Financial acumen with the ability to manage large budgets and optimize resource allocation.

Pay: $190,000.00 - $225,000.00 per year
