What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at FTS?
Position Overview:
A large partner of ours is looking for a Controller to manage financial operations and lead the team for one of their subsidiaries. This position will be responsible for overseeing the timely and accurate financial reporting process, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance and maintain internal controls to guarantee the accuracy of financial accounting and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to approved accounting policies and manage financial records for both statutory and operational requirements.
- Oversee the month-end closing process to ensure it is completed on time.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering their growth through training and development opportunities.
- Manage team performance by setting clear goals, conducting meaningful performance evaluations, and fostering an open communication environment.
- Provide financial data and analysis to Corporate Finance, the VP of Finance, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Review and supervise standard and non-standard monthly journal entries, investigating unusual entries or balances.
- Analyze budget or forecast variances to assess financial performance.
- Develop and implement standardized financial processes for National Accounts Finance, applying Toyota Production System principles to enhance quality.
- Prepare or review annual audit schedules, including managing the annual inventory observation process and reconciling book-to-physical counts for the external audit.
- Lead the annual budget and forecasting process.
- Prepare ad-hoc and pro forma financial reports for business leaders as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Eight or more years of professional experience.
- Three or more years of management experience.
- Strong knowledge of business and accounting principles.
- Familiarity with US GAAP, SOX, IAS, and IFRS.
- CPA certification is preferred.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $123,000.00 per year
