What are the responsibilities and job description for the BAR MANAGER at Fudpucker's Destin position at Fudpucker's Beachside Bar & Grill of Destin?
FUDPUCKER'S is filling our BAR MANAGER position. We do require management, bar and restaurant experience and be at least 21 years of age. We will teach you all the rest of the stuff you'll need to know. In fact, you'll have a lot of fun learning it (because this IS Fudpucker's, after all). But, in addition to having fun, you'll actually learn stuff that we guarantee will remain with you for the rest of your life because our focus is on LIFE LESSONS, and you will leave here with a boat load of them.
- You probably already know this, but Fudpucker's is one of the most famous places in northwest Florida. What you may not know, though, is that we are not just famous because of our great food, cold drinks, funny t-shirts and live alligators (though these things ARE pretty amazing). Actually, the main reason that Fudpucker's is famous is because we are really good at making people smile, making people laugh and making people feel at home. And to do that, our training is all about making people feel welcome - and we are really good at doing that for both our visitors AND our employees.
- The BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS are the PULSE of our operation at Fudpucker's. The ENERGY, PASSION and positive VIBE that our BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS exhibit is the key to our success. Our BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS get to know our guests while waiting for their dining experience to begin, serve cocktails (like our infamous FUD-punch) and FUD-licous food....you will get to know our lingo!
- Our BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS learn how to welcome and interact with each and every one of our visitors... and we have LOTS of visitors, so they get LOTS OF PRACTICE! In fact, our visitors return to FUDPUCKER'S over and over again largely because of the interactions that they have with our staff. And, after coming back to Fuds time and again, our guests truly become more than visitors... they become friends (and, remember: we're famous for food, fun & FRIENDS...) And, to make that happen, the BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS are essential.
- Our BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS are taught how to describe our menu options, detail ingredients, make recommendations, take orders, deliver drinks and hot fresh food and all while maintaining that FUD-tastic SMILE! They have fun with their guests by challenging them to a “tongue twister challenge” (You’ll master it!) Let’s don’t forget our FUD-nominal service secrets…Making personal connections with guests you have never met before that includes an introduction, first “gator” bite check, and a “see you again” at closing.
- Our BAR MANAGER/BARTENDERS will learn about Fudpucker’s history (don't worry... we'll teach you that stuff) and these stories ALWAYS make people smile and laugh. Also, learn some fun facts about our Gators like “Alligators eyes glow in the dark” or “They can’t survive in salt water” (yay! We will not encounter them at the beach)
- Of course, in learning to be a good BAR MANAGER/BARTENDER at Fudpucker's, our staff actually develop some incredibly STRONG PEOPLE SKILLS... and, these people skills benefit them throughout their lives - long after they leave Fudpucker's.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent, college preferred
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience as a bar or restaurant manager preferred
- Must pass a Responsible Vendor test within 30 days of being hired and biannually thereafter
- Must be able to clearly communicate with staff and guests
- Open availability, with a 45-hour work week
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Recruit, interview, hire and train new bar staff employees.
- Oversees staff, including bartenders and barbacks, and, in some cases, bouncers, wait staff, and/or kitchen staff as well.
- Schedules entertainment for daily and special events
- Maintains inventory, budget, and monitors costs
- Create employee schedules based on projected business and trends
- Oversee special projects related to the bar operations as delegated by upper management
- Be safe and follow the rules, while still having fun
- Meet really interesting people who visit Fudpucker's from all over the world
- Be willing to help others (visitors and other Fud employees)
- Have fun with people (I know... we said it before, but hey, that's what we do)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs, then up and down again over and over again throughout the day.... carrying trays of food and drinks.
- Must be able to stay on your feet for at least four hours at a time (without passing out)
- Must be able to stoop, bend, and stand for a while without complaining...
- Must be able to carry up to 40#s of things (drinks, food and more drinks)
- Must walk a lot without tripping or slipping...
- Must be able to withstand loud noises (like when we have a packed house of people talking, laughing, and laughing some more, but louder).
- Must have fun with people (okay... you get the point)
