Mechanical Assembler I

Position : Mechanical Assembler, Final Assembly 1st Shift (7 : 30 AM - 3 : 30 PM)Starting Salary : $19.00 hourLocation : Torrington, CTPrimary Function :

• Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, large and small assemblies or sub-assemblies.
• Determines and / or follows work instructions and sequence travelers of operations in performing wiring, component installation, welding and fitting on assembly units.
• Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications.
• Performs hands-on manufacturing tasks while meeting quantity and quality standards and requirements.
• Performs all essential functions in a safe manner, as defined by FCE Environmental Health & Safety standards, OSHA and all applicable regulations.
• Interacts and communicates in a positive and respectful manner with all coworkers, managers, and internal / external customers.
• Follows work instructions to meet production requirements, including interpretation of drawings (or similar documents such as blueprints) as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications : Education : Minimum HS Diploma or GED required. Trade School or Military experience a plus.Experience : Previous manufacturing or mechanical experience strongly preferred; experience working in automotive repairs, construction, or other assembly type environments will also be considered.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
• Ability to use electronically controlled equipment and hand tools
• Experience with tooling and assembly utilizing heavy equipment
• Experience with quality measuring tools, i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Experience in use of air pallets, forklifts and overhead crane operations
• Background in welding and electronic / wiring assembly a plusWork Environment / Physical Requirements :
• Lifting, pushing, pulling and placement of manufacturing parts on a repeated basis, which may have a weight of up to 25 lbs. (or more with assistance)
• Ability to remain on feet and move from area to area within the Plant for a minimum period of eight (8) hours, with designated breaks (no tasks allow operators to sit while being performed)
• Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks with full range of motion with both hands / arms : motions include circular, up and down, back and forth, side to side and overhead
• Ability to work with, and around, chemicals, including but not limited to nickel based compounds, adhesives and solvent
• Be able and willing to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as designated such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hats, respirator, and other PPE as requiredFuelCell Energy is a global leader in decarbonizing power and producing hydrogen through our proprietary fuel cell technology.
