Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Kennel Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kennel facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and a minimum of 2 years of management experience. This role requires excellent leadership skills, a love for animals, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service to pet owners.
Duties
- Supervise and manage kennel staff, providing training and support as needed.
- Ensure the health and safety of all animals in the facility, including regular health checks and monitoring behavior. Ability to work with behavioral dogs is a must.
- Oversee daily operations, including feeding, grooming, exercise, and cleaning of kennels.
- Develop and implement operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including scheduling of all boarders, board and trains, Adventure day dogs, and cats.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy, fostering positive relationships with pet owners.
- Coordinate with veterinarians for any medical needs or emergencies involving the animals in care.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations regarding animal care and kennel operations.
- Minimum of a High School diploma is required.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of pet care practices, including dog handling and the ability to work with behavioral dogs.
- Experience in dog training or working as a veterinary technician is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (50lbs) when handling large breeds or moving equipment within the kennel.
- Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their needs.
- Previous experience in a kennel environment is required; a passion for animal welfare is essential.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules, staff duties, and record keeping efficiently.
