Production Supervisor
General Summary
Support and assist Manufacturing Manager and Assistant Production Manager by supervising production employees. Exercise leadership and responsibility for production areas assigned to them. Use leadership skills in supporting the safety and quality systems and goal setting within the departments. Responsible for training and development of crew leads and department personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Requires frequent standing and walking on concrete surfaces
- Requires continuous sitting for extended periods
- Requires frequent computer entry and compatibility with normal computer screen
Specific Responsibility Expectation
Supervision
Directly and indirectly supervise the 2nd shift work force to maximize performance and effort by the crew leads and all shop employees.
Leadership and Responsibility
Exercise leadership and responsibility for assigned production areas, including assigning labor personnel to necessary areas to achieve departmental goals.
Support Management
Be aware of and inform Management of production and personnel issues. Be proactive regarding any potential personnel issues.
Safety
Be the driving force behind the FVI Safety Program.
Lead by example and train operators in FVI Safety Policies. Ensure adherence to the Safety Policies.
Quality
Be the driving force behind the ISO Quality System.
Train operators in the Quality System.
Ensure adherence to the Quality System with great importance placed on quality parts checks by yourself and/or other assigned personnel.
Production
Monitor production standard times and recommend process changes. Strive to always improve FVI productivity % and offer ideas for improvement.
Meet production deadlines and promised finish dates.
Provide data and participate in production meetings.
Continuous Improvement
Encourage operators to continuously improve.
Encourage operators to use the PIE suggestion program.
Training and Evaluation
Ensure all operators and crew leads are trained in all aspects of their position.
Assist in writing and conducting employee performance reviews.
Maintenance
Ensure department areas and machines are orderly and properly maintained by operators. Capable of doing minor maintenance to machines.
Expectations:
Regular attendance and starting on time are essential. Responsible for the quality of your own work and to not accept poor quality workmanship from others. Expected to perform at acceptable quality and performance levels and strive for continuous improvement as described in Full Vision's Quality Policy.
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally move parts weighing up to 80 pounds
- Exposure to noise-continuously
- Frequently lifting/carrying/moving up to 65 pounds
- Hand/eye coordination – frequently
- Standing, twisting, walking – frequently
- Physical Capacity Profile of Level 4
Position Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in production supervision or related field
- Good communication skills (ability to interact with subordinates, managers, other departments)
- Good organizational skills
- Takes initiative
- High skill level in production supervision/management
- Personal integrity and dependability
- High school or GED
- Passage of Drug Test
- Passage of Physical Agility Test
- Stable work history
