Set-Up Maintenance Tech
Job Description
Summary:
This individual will independently perform preventative maintenance and repair equipment and machines. In a time sensitive environment, they will set up production lines and assist operators in running filling and packaging equipment in the Chemical Department. As well as, help with other general maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure all daily preventative maintenance (PM) is completed (cleaning, lubrication, etc.)
- Follow production and set up sheets to prepare, set up, change over, and tear down chemical packaging lines
- Setup and visually inspect and test machinery and equipment in a timely manner
- Ensures good operation of machinery and equipment (Examples: pumps, fillers, cappers, coders, tapers, and production machines)
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation
- Troubleshoots manufacturing equipment including fillers, cappers, coders, tapers
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problem or repair machine
- Performs industrial maintenance functions: preventative maintenance, repair, and improvement of a wide variety of equipment.
- Dismantles defective machines, pumps, and equipment to install new or repair parts.
- Assists production in setup and tear down
- Aid other teams (Production, Quality- when needed)
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (BMP’s)
- Follow safe working procedures in accordance with the health and safety policies
- Performs other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:

- Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of complex projects
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
- Qualified candidates will have either previous relevant experience as an Industrial Maintenance
- Mechanic, or related field, or training at an accredited technical school

- Lifting/handling: exert up to 50 pounds occasionally; up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Vision: color; close; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
- Work is performed under generally good conditions with some machine noise, fumes, oil, and dirt present. Adequate lighting, ventilation is present.

- Exposure to usual minor shop injuries such as cuts bruises, burns and sprains are inherent in the job. Some exposure to more serious hazards; however, probability of serious injury will be minimized by adherence to established safety regulations.
- Training will be provided to personnel who may occasionally wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
