HOURS: Approximately 10-15 Hours per week
REPORTS TO: Clinical Psychology DCT
DCT Affiliate Mentor APA-accredited doctoral clinical psychology program in the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary. This DCT Affiliate Mentor position will assist in administration of clinical field training for the Clinical Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs. The qualified candidate will have completed a doctorate degree in clinical psychology and be licensed or license eligible in the state of California. The DCT Affiliate Mentor will be a key point of contact for students with the DCT, be responsible for the placement and professional mentorship of students, and support the quality assurance of the student field training experience.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Director of Clinical Training and Clinical Administrative Coordinator in a team environment. The DCT Affiliate Mentor is supervised by the Director of Clinical Training (DCT).
- In cooperation with the DCT, manage the practicum field training process for the doctoral Clinical Psychology Programs, including clinical evaluations, orientation meetings,
- Oversee, under the guidance of the DCT, the placement process for placing students in clinical training field training sites.
- Mentor students in their clinical and professional development, including coordinating professional development workshops and individual meetings.
- Provide remedial mentorship and guidance to students who are having competency difficulties in clinical training, via individual meetings.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities with internship applicants, including providing feedback on internship materials, conducting mock interviews, and providing one-on-one meetings to discuss career trajectories.
- Assist the DCT in developing clinical training policies and initiatives.
- Oversee and develop clinical training orientation and professional development meetings.
- Attend quarterly SCAPTP (Southern California Association of Psychology Training Programs) meetings in order to stay aware of the latest developments in clinical training standards and requirements in the southern California area.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Doctorate degree in psychology (PhD/PsyD) from an APA-accredited program.
- Licensed or licensed eligible within the state of California (if license eligible, must become licensed within one year of hire date).
- Knowledge of APA Standards of Accreditation.
- Knowledge of the APPIC Internship placement process.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and professional staff.
- Commitment to clinical training and mentoring students.
- Significant experience in an academic or mental health setting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with good attention to detail.
