POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. Directs all aspects of member engagement programs for the branch in aquatics and wellness and supervises assigned staff. Helps to build the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s cause and impact. Develops, plans, and implement new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals.

3. Programs/Services: Based on member feedback and availability, provides exceptional service offerings during desired/available times, ensuring quality curriculums and member focused staff.

Leadership Development: Recruits, hires, trains, manages, appreciates, and leads a qualified and committed staff/volunteers who represent the communities we serve and are held accountable for welcoming and valuing members and incorporating relationship-building and member achievement into all programs.
5. Marketing and Communication: Keeps members and prospective members informed in a timely fashion and uses a variety of clear, concise methods. All communication materials are grounded in the language of the Y’s cause and mission and reflect the diversity of people the Y engages with and maintains the Y’s reputation by promoting the value and impact of being a Y member.
6. Social Responsibility: Understands and models YMCA values. Focuses on creating positive social and community change through the development of meaningful programs and services and helping to ensure that everyone has access.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops, implements, and manages operating plans, events, and schedules to promote aquatic and wellness growth and retention for the YMCA.
2. Execute strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and the YMCA.
3. Recruits, trains, develops, evaluates, recognizes, holds accountable and directs staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
4. Ensures safe, high-quality member focused services through innovative program development, evaluations, and ongoing staff training.
5. Confirms staff certifications are current and complete.
6. Models’ relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions
7. Develops and controls budgets related to the position.
8. Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
9. Establish new program activities and expand the program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
10. Monitors quality results by monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness and adhering to program standards.
11. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
12. Oversee daily operations and ensure compliance/training with all state and local licensing/regulations.
13. Assure that all procedures are followed, and accurate records are maintained.
14. Provides leadership and support for the annual fundraising campaign.
15. Keeps updated professional knowledge of all programs through self-study, research, and/or conference/workshop participation.
16. Participates in staff meetings and/or other related meetings.
17. Takes a leadership role in the planning and coordination of branch-wide events.
18. Performs other duties as assigned and in accordance with the planned Chart of Work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent preferred.
2. Two or more years of experience in aquatics and wellness or equivalent.
3. Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other non-profit agency.
4. Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
5. Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations.
6. Proven history of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
7. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
8. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
9. Within 90 days of hire they must complete then maintain (based on renewal date of certification) CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, Mandated Reported Training, Hazard Communications.
10. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications YMCA Swim Instructor certification, ARC or YMCA Lifeguard.
11. Completion of Y Link-Redwoods and Praesidium Trainings.
