What are the responsibilities and job description for the Daycare Director position at Fulton Family YMCA?
Schedule is flexible, must be available for programming needs between the hours of 7:00am-6:00pm.
Manages daily activities of the Daycare Center including staff supervision, planning, implementation and evaluating curriculum, budgeting and enrollment. Responsible for the compliance of OCFS and agency policies and procedures.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- ∙ Provides direct supervision of center staff, observations of performance, training, offering feedback and sharing in duties and responsibilities as needed. Holds regular staff meetings .
- ∙ Responsible for interviews, hires and orients new staff, scheduling supervision, and continued development of all childcare staff.
- Ensures adequate staffing and coverage within ratios, substitutes in the classroom when necessary.
- ∙Communicates with parents regularly, orients new parents to the center, provides tours, develops plans for children to be successful in their program.
- ∙ General oversight of services in accordance with the policies, values, and standards established by the Association and OCFS. Maintain all records in accordance to OCFS policies.
- ∙ Accountable for department budget development and management.
- Participates in community events, and community meetings or workgroups as assigned.
- ∙ Ensure all program operations are consistent with Association procedures, including maintenance, emergency, accident, purchasing, personnel, and accounting systems at both sites.
- Responsible for center newsletter; completes monthly reports and statistical information; assigns tasks to center assistant and monitors work
- ∙ Implement program initiatives that identify safety, quality, and excellent customer service as top priorities.
Licensing:
Works directly with the licensing representative during inspections/renewals; ensures all Day Care Licensing compliance issues are resolved and corrective action is implemented at the center level; carries name/reputation on the license and the OCFS Day Care Center Facility.
Responsible for the safe environment of the building, playground, and surrounding areas; takes the lead on all building issues, schedules inspections, service vendors and ensures building is visually appealing and in compliance with regulations.
Ensures center files are up to date according to OCFS.
Assists with gathering required information for licensing new classrooms, renewals or changes including floor plans.
Experience and Education:
∙ Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with 3 - 5 years experience working with children, which includes 3 years of supervisory experience; or
Certified teacher N - 6 with 12 hours course work in Early Childhood, with 3 - 5 years experience teaching preschool children and 3 years supervisory experience.
∙ Minimum two years direct experience working with children under the age of 13.
∙ Minimum one year experience in management of childcare programs, supervision of staff, and budget management.
Must obtain fingerprints, physical and TB test prior to working
