Function Health seeks a dynamic and experienced Creative Director to orchestrate brand direction across all creative pods. Reporting directly to the Executive Creative Director (ECD), this role brings the ECD’s vision to life through exceptional storytelling and cohesive creative execution. This pivotal role requires a strong copy background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage in-house creative teams and agency outputs. The Creative Director will be critical in shaping and evolving Function Health’s voice and storytelling while ensuring cohesive brand representation across all channels.
Key Responsibilities 1. Brand Direction and Leadership
Uphold Function Health’s developing brand identity, ensuring consistency and excellence across all creative touchpoints.
Lead the orchestration of brand direction across several creative pods and projects (Campaign, Evergreen, Special Projects, P0, and Utility).
Act as a guardian of Function Health’s brand voice, ensuring alignment across design, copy, and messaging.
Execute the vision set by the ECD, translating high-level direction into actionable creative strategies.
2. Copy Expertise
Serve as the creative lead for all copy efforts, including campaigns, evergreen content, product messaging, and reactive content.
Develop compelling and resonant messaging strategies that elevate the brand’s storytelling.
Provide hands-on copywriting and editing for high-impact projects and campaigns.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with the Executive Creative Director to align creative outputs with the brand vision.
Collaborate with marketing, product, and innovation teams to ensure creative outputs drive business objectives.
Work with the Brand Innovation Team to explore and implement cutting-edge AI tools for content creation and optimization.
4. Agency and Vendor Management
Oversee and manage vision and execution with external agency partners, ensuring alignment with Function Health’s creative standards and objectives.
Review agency outputs, providing clear feedback to refine and enhance deliverables.
Evaluate agency performance and maintain relationships with external creative resources.
5. Team Development and Mentorship
Manage and mentor copywriters, providing guidance on tone, voice, and storytelling techniques.
Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration within the creative team.
Develop training and growth opportunities for junior team members to elevate their skills.
6. Strategic Oversight
Ensure that all creative outputs align with Function Health’s strategic goals and brand positioning.
Analyze performance data and customer insights to refine messaging and creative strategies.
Maintain a forward-looking approach to brand storytelling, staying ahead of industry trends and emerging opportunities.
7. Multi-Platform and Viral Content Leadership
Bring extensive experience in creating and delivering organic, viral, and multi-platform storytelling.
Lead the execution of fully integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring creative consistency across all channels.
Demonstrate the ability to plan, execute, and deliver assets on a regular advertising cadence.
Leverage customer insights and data to adapt designs and messaging for optimal market performance.
8. Innovation and Creativity
Be a builder of “newness,” demonstrating scrappy, out-of-the-box thinking paired with within-the-process execution.
Drive deeply innovative approaches to storytelling and content creation that resonate with diverse audiences.
Be comfortable storyboarding ideas and bringing them to life across different mediums.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field; master’s degree is a plus.
8 years of experience in creative roles, with significant in-house experience at a brand.
Proven expertise in copywriting, with a strong portfolio showcasing impactful brand storytelling.
Experience managing multidisciplinary creative teams, including copywriters and designers.
Demonstrated ability to manage agency relationships and oversee external creative outputs.
Deep understanding of branding, messaging strategy, and customer engagement.
Extensive experience in organic content creation, viral campaigns, and multi-platform storytelling.
Strong track record of managing fully integrated marketing campaigns.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with AI-driven content tools and emerging creative technologies is a plus.
