Funston Company is seeking Pipe Layers to install water/sewer pipelines, manholes, and other duties as needed.
Funston Company is a locally owned and operated site construction and farming company that has been in business for over twenty years. Funston Company is based out of Leland, NC and services developers, general contractors and municipalities throughout southeastern North Carolina
Responsibilities/Duties
- Willing to travel if required
- Direct operator in the excavation of trenches to grade bottom
- Arranges pump hoses to remove water
- Levels trench bottom and spreads stabilization stone with shovel
- Guides suspended pipe into trench, unhooks cable or strap sling and digs under pipe to allow removal of sling
- Check and adjust grade
- Homes pipe to previous joint
- Partially backfills by shoveling or dumping dirt and stone beside the newly laid joint of pipe and tamps or compacts backfill as required
- Installs sheeting and shoring when required
- Puts down, maintains and takes up wellpoints
- Uses hand air wrenches to install flanged and MJ pipe
- Helps build and repair concrete inverts in manhole
Required Qualifications
Highs School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and six month related experience and/or training.
