We’re searching for a skilled, people-focused, and self-driven Furniture Restoration Volunteer Coordinator to lead and inspire unskilled volunteers in furniture restoration projects. If you’re a patient and approachable craftsperson who loves working with diverse groups and thrives in both hands-on and teaching roles, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will have experience with furniture painting, staining, and refinishing while demonstrating a strong ability to empower others, ensure quality results, and maintain an organized, productive workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
· Hands-On Demonstration & Learning: Continuously improve your restoration skills while demonstrating safe tool and material use.Teach basic to intermediate techniques, such as sanding, staining, painting, and refinishing furniture.
· Volunteer Engagement & Empowerment: Foster an inclusive, educational, and positive experience for volunteers.Encourage teamwork and inspire volunteers by sharing your knowledge and passion for restoration.
· Safety, Quality, & Workshop Maintenance: Monitor volunteer work to ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.Oversee tools, materials, and the workspace to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient environment.
· Furniture Restoration Coordination: Evaluate incoming furniture donations to determine restoration potential. Use inventory systems and collaborate with the fulfillment and design team to prioritize and complete furniture projects on schedule.
· Volunteer Coordination: Support volunteer recruitment and retention efforts by updating management systems and corresponding with volunteers about schedules and opportunities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Communication Excellence: Ability to explain complex techniques to beginners with clarity and enthusiasm.
- Patience & Adaptability: Comfortable teaching individuals with varying skill levels and learning styles.
- Organizational Skills: Skilled in planning sessions, managing tools, and ensuring workshop efficiency.
- Multitasking Proficiency: Capable of managing multiple projects and volunteer needs simultaneously.
- Hands-On Restoration Experience: Proven experience with furniture restoration (professional or hobbyist).
- Problem-Solving Creativity: Enthusiasm for finding inventive solutions in restoration and upcycling.
Preferred Skills
- Certification or formal training in furniture restoration or related fields.
- Experience working with community organizations or volunteer groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general tech savviness.
