Operator/Production Technician

The Operator/Production Technician is responsible for the compounding, weighing, mixing, and processing of raw materials in compliance with established procedures. This role ensures the proper and consistent flow of mixed compounds throughout the manufacturing process while adhering to safety and quality standards. Our client, located in Whitewater, WI, is currently seeking two individuals to join their 2nd shift on a DIRECT HIRE basis.

Hours: 2pm to 10pm M-F, with occasional voluntary OT on weekends

Pay: $22.32 base pay for 1st shift with $.50 shift differential on nights to $22.82/hour

Operator/Production Technician Responsibilities:
  • Accurately weigh and mix raw materials as per formulations and instructions, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Inspect raw materials for contamination using color perception and report any inconsistencies.
  • Operate and inspect scales and mixing equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor mixing consistency, adjusting bulk oil setup as needed, and promptly report any process variations.
  • Load raw materials and oils into mixers following production schedules and work instructions.
  • Clean mixers between batches to prevent material buildup and contamination.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the mill and surrounding areas to ensure a contamination-free environment.
  • Monitor and ensure efficient machine operation to minimize production loss.
  • Immediately report any operational issues and actively participate in problem-solving efforts.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including verifying equipment safety before operation, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhering to Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
  • Maintain tools, tool boards, and workstations in a clean and organized manner.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Maintenance department and assist in basic troubleshooting.
  • Assist in training new team members as directed by the Production Supervisor.
Operator/Production Technician Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (a competency assessment may be considered in lieu of education).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic computer systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
  • Visual acuity to identify color differences and detect material inconsistencies.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
