What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director for Events and Membership position at Fusion Industry Association?
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director for Events and Membership to expand FIA’s already active events program and engage a rapidly growing membership. As the FIA grows along with the fusion energy industry, this individual will play a key role in building fusion’s footprint in Washington and other key areas. The Director will be a vital part of a small team. They will be responsible for advancing the fusion industry through strategic events, membership growth, and partnership building. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director will be instrumental in ensuring FIA’s success in providing meaningful value for members, affiliate members, and partners by organizing impactful events and amplifying the voice of the fusion industry.
- Event Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, organization, and execution of FIA’s major events, including conferences, workshops, policy briefings, and webinars. These events will range from intimate gatherings with policymakers and members to large-scale industry conferences that position fusion energy at the forefront of clean energy conversations. Events will take place in Washington and key locations around the world.
- Membership Engagement and Growth: Oversee all aspects of FIA’s membership strategy, from recruitment of new members to retention and engagement of existing members. Work closely with members to ensure they are actively involved in FIA’s initiatives and have opportunities to showcase their work.
- Member Services: Serve as the primary point of contact for FIA members, ensuring that they receive the support, information, and networking opportunities they need. Develop new member programs and initiatives that provide value and drive engagement.
- Strategic Communications Support: Partner with the communications team to amplify member successes and industry developments through FIA’s events and digital platforms.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Work collaboratively with FIA’s small team to align membership and events strategies with FIA’s overall mission and objectives. Provide input on the organization’s strategic direction and long-term goals.
- Data and Reporting: Utilize data to track and analyze membership trends, build a membership database, track event success metrics, and engagement levels. Present findings to FIA leadership and use insights to drive continuous improvement.
- 5 years of experience in event planning, membership management, or a related role in an industry association, advocacy organization, or relevant nonprofit.
- Proven track record of organizing successful events, both in-person and virtual, that attract high-level stakeholders and industry leaders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience building and maintaining relationships with members, sponsors, and external partners.
- Knowledge of clean energy, fusion energy, or science and technology sectors are not required, but openness to learning and o.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including industry representatives, policymakers, and academic institutions.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, event management, business, public policy, or a related field is required.
Salary : $90,000 - $140,000
