What are the responsibilities and job description for the Freight Claims Specialist position at Fusion Transport?
Responsibilities:
- Manage the process of researching over, short and damaged freight (including refused and undelivered freight); process related documentation and resolve errors for quick customer resolution and claim prevention
- Create and improve tools related to matching freight, documenting shipment dispositions, etc.
- Develop strong relationships with regional operational teams to solve recurring issues
- Maintain regional records for all hazmat to ensure that physical inventory matches electronic inventory; work with vendors to ensure that pick-up and disposal of spills and related documentation meets all EPA and OSHA standard
- Manage the Bill shipment process pursuant to applicable tariffs and pricing agreements
- Work with cargo claims team to ensure specific tasks are completed on daily basis to prevent claims
- Communicate with customers, operations and vendors as necessary to resolve issues around shipments identified as over, short, damaged, refused or stranded.
- Monitor/improve controls of paperwork and processes that impact claims such as timely communication of exceptions on shipper loaded trailers and proper handling of PODs.
Qualifications:
At a minimum, you'll need:
- 4 years of operational experience in transportation, warehousing or a related field
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations
- 3 years of experience in OS&D
- Strong critical thinking and planning ability
- The flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate information in a clear and understandable manner
