Future First Criminal Law
Phoenix, AZ Full Time

Job Description

Who are we looking for?

YOU! A motivated, efficient, and passionate criminal defense paralegal in the Phoenix, AZ valley.

Why Future First Criminal Law?

Because we actually prioritize a work-life balance, unlike the firm where you are currently getting burnt out. Given our proven and winning work style method, you’ll actually be able to enjoy a life outside of the firm. Hello, work-life balance! We promise we won’t eat your soul and the clients will actually enjoy the work you do for them.

Who will I help?

Future First handles primarily first-time offenders and misdemeanors cases. These clients typically have never been through the criminal justice system and need a little extra hand-holding with their cases. We do not take complex cases, in-custody clients, or those with unreasonable expectations. Each client is carefully vetted to make sure they are going to be a good fit with our firm and if they are not, we refer them out. We are not a trial heavy law firm as we are very successful at getting cases dismissed or really good plea offers to resolve the case.

Am I a good candidate?

Future First is looking to hire a criminal defense paralegal who believes in the power of deviations. That the first plea offer from a prosecutor is almost never the best option, and that you can actually make an impact on a client's life by getting the case dismissed or a better plea deal. In order to do this you will review police reports/videos and give a thorough breakdown of the positive and negative things that happened in each case. But also… say hello to a legal assistant backing you up and doing all the assistant level work for you so you can focus on actually being a paralegal. This is a 100% virtual position so you will be required to be working online via zoom with the rest of the team each day so a reliable computer and internet connection is a must.

Job Qualifications:

It is usually unfair to say you need a certain amount of years worth of experience in a job to be a good fit for this job. What we are looking for is that you are open and willing to learn our style of how to be effective for clients. Yes, you must know Arizona laws and you must be a competent criminal paralegal who can efficiently handle a caseload. You will have Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for your job that help you be successful. The KPIs that we care about are making sure each week you complete 30 productive hours tracked in Clio, 5-10 legal memos, draft 5-8 deviations and other associated duties. If you are a motivated individual who wants to get cases solved with the best results in the most efficient time possible then you will be very successful at Future First.

If you believe you qualify for this position and want an interview, then you must send a cover letter to zach@futurefirst.law detailing why you believe you will be a good fit for this firm. The subject line should be "Your New Paralegal"

Compensation:

$40,000/year salary

What about bonuses?

Yes! Future First Criminal Law offers a handful of bonuses based on your results such as cases dismissed, deviations approved, and cases solved with the best result possible in the most efficient time possible. There is no limit on the amount of bonuses you can get per year. For instance if you were to get a case dismissed ($50) by using a deviation ($50) within a certain amount of time ($50) then you could get $150 as a bonus for that case. Now multiply that by the 100 cases you solve per year, then you are looking at over $10,000 worth of bonuses. Yes, the firm also pays a client origination bonus of 10% of new cases you bring to the firm but you are not expected to bring in your own clients or do sales.

Any other perks the firm covers?

Unlimited approved paid time off starting 90 days after hire

50% Healthcare benefits for the employee start 30 days after hire

100% dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability and life insurance

3% 401k matching

Salary : $40,000
