What the role is
Senior Technical Designers work with the Technical Studio Director on a daily and per project basis. While Senior Technical Designers may be part of a design studio, they will work with the Technical Director for mentorship in project architecture. They should leverage industry experience and technical insight to support projects from concept through implementation. They are strong communicators and work with teams to maintain scope and schedule. This role is tasked with preparing or modifying designs for construction projects, including but not limited to, creating imagery, floor plan layouts, storefront designs and composition, fixture design, product placement, and everything in between.
Other Responsibilities
- Ability to execute a variety of tasks within multiple projects (such as design development drawings, construction documentation, etc.).
- Familiarity with developing a full set of technical drawings, both large and small scale buildouts (2,000 sf to 20,000 sf).
- Assist in documenting preliminary program, space layouts, code reviews and analysis. Review and coordinate consultant documents and construction administration.
- Coordinate work progress and perform completed work reviews with project QA/QC checklist.
- Participate in client presentations and assist in presenting teams’ work.
- Ability to visualize technical drawings with computer-aided software.
- Various other research and creative tasks may be required in addition to documentation.
what it requires
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture preferred, or Bachelor degree in Interior Design required
- At least 1-5 years of technical design experience
- Expert in AutoCAD
- Experience with Sketch-Up, Revit and Adobe Suite Software
- Experience in the design process, construction documentation, construction administration, and sustainable building design
- Understanding of project management process and skills
- Licensed Architect or CIDR licensed Interior Designer a plus
