Futuro Media is an independent, non-profit news media organization and podcast studio founded in 2010 by Pulitzer Prize winner Maria Hinojosa. Based in Harlem, NYC, Futuro Media produces the Peabody Award-winning Latino USA, the longest-running public radio Latino news and cultural program, which celebrated 30 years on the air in 2023; Futuro Studios, focused on original podcasts and programming including Pulitzer Prize-winning podcast Suave, and acclaimed podcasts La Brega, Anything for Selena, and The Sum of Us; In The Thick, a podcast about politics, unfiltered; and our IRE and Murrow award-winning Futuro Investigates, our investigative journalism arm that produced the USA v. García Luna podcast and the After Uvalde: Guns, Grief & Texas Politics documentary.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Pulitzer Prize-winning Futuro Media seeks a creative and organized Social Media & Marketing Associate to join our dynamic team on a 20 hour per week, part-time basis. This is a remote position. We are looking for someone passionate about media, storytelling, and amplifying underrepresented voices. The Social Media & Marketing Associate  will play a key role in helping to execute marketing strategies, creating  social media videos, managing social media platforms, supporting campaigns, and supporting general outreach efforts to grow our audience and community engagement. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the planning and execution of marketing campaigns across digital and traditional platforms.
• Help to create and edit short videos for social media.
• Create graphics for episode promos and campaigns. 
• Manage and update social media accounts, including drafting posts, scheduling content, and monitoring engagement.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to create and maintain a social media calendar across our various platforms.
• Work closely with the Editorial and Development teams to promote Futuro Media's content.
• Track analytics to measure the success of campaigns.
• Help maintain the email marketing calendar and assist with newsletter creation.
• Assist in building company press list
• Support with conducting research on audience trends and identify opportunities for growth.
• Handle administrative tasks as needed, such as organizing marketing assets, maintaining databases, and updating our websites.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2 years of experience in marketing, social media, or related roles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube), and tools (Canva and Hootsuite).
• Graphic design skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
• Familiarity with marketing and website platforms Mailchimp and WordPress..
• Passion for storytelling and an understanding of Futuro Media’s mission.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

SALARY RANGE: $22 - $30 per hour commensurate with experience
