The Role
The HR Manager will oversee and manage diverse HR functions, including strategic workforce planning, employee engagement, wellness programs, benefits administration, compliance, philanthropy initiatives, employee relations, payroll, and HR systems. This position will serve as a strategic partner to leadership, driving innovative HR initiatives that support organizational goals and enhance employee satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, a strong foundation in HR best practices, and the ability to lead strategic plans while ensuring operational excellence. This role reports directly to the Director of Employee Experience.
Key Day to Day Responsibilities
In this role, you are entrusted with the following responsibilities :
Strategic HR Leadership :
- Develop and implement forward-thinking HR strategies that align with the organization's mission and long-term goals.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on strategic workforce planning, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and employee satisfaction strategies.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning :
Analyze workforce trends to guide hiring strategies that align with short- and long-term organizational goals.Manage and optimize the Applicant Tracking System and recruitment metrics to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.Employee Engagement, Wellness & Retention :
Employee Wellness :Design and execute a comprehensive employee wellness strategy, encompassing physical, mental, and financial well-being.Partner with external wellness vendors to deliver impactful programs, such as fitness challenges, mental health workshops, and financial planning sessions.Develop and maintain a wellness calendar, ensuring year-round engagement with employees through programs, events, and resources.Employee Engagement :
Develop and implement employee engagement programs aimed at increasing morale, productivity, and overall job satisfaction.Conduct employee surveys, analyze feedback, and execute initiatives to address concerns and improve retention rates.Philanthropy & Community Involvement :
Create and manage corporate social responsibility (CSR) and philanthropy programs, encouraging employee participation in volunteer activities.Partner with local nonprofits and community organizations to align philanthropic efforts with organizational values.Employee Relations :
Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations, providing support for conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.Promote a positive workplace environment by coaching managers and employees on effective communication and collaboration.Compliance & Reporting :
Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including ADA, FMLA, and FLSA, as well as government contracting requirements.Lead compliance-related reporting, such as ACA reporting and Affirmative Action Plans, to ensure adherence to equal employment opportunity standards.Monitor changes in labor laws and implement updates to policies and procedures as needed.Benefits Administration :
Oversee employee benefits programs, including enrollment, updates, and communication, with a focus on ensuring competitive offerings.Provide education and support to employees on benefits options, ensuring they maximize available resources.Payroll & HR Systems Management :
Oversee payroll processing using systems such as eFAACT (timesheets) and GovConPay (payroll), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Serve as the HRIS administrator, leading system integrations and ensuring smooth operations of all HR technologies.Policy Development :
Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that support organizational goals and reflect industry best practices.Provide training to leadership and staff on updated policies and their implications.Qualifications :
Experience : 6 years of experience in HR roles demonstrating increased scope, and responsibilities with each role, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity (preferably in government contracting).Education : Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.Certifications : SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.Technical Skills : Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., GovConPay / iSolved) and payroll systems. Experience leading HR technology integrations is a plus.Knowledge : Comprehensive understanding of HR processes, employment laws, and compliance requirements specific to the government contracting industry.Interpersonal Skills : Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.Problem-Solving : Strong critical thinking, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.Confidentiality : Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.Organizational Skills : Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.FYI's Benefits / Incentives : What is in it for you?
