Job Title : Buyer

Location : Multiple Locations
Pay : $75,000-$110,000 Annually with possible Purchasing Bonus
Schedule : Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Job Summary :
The buyer provides a well-balanced inventory and product base, which is efficiently and economically purchased, managed and controlled for major food service redistribution company (G & C Foods). To facilitate the best possible market position for G & C Foods through the development, measurement and prioritization of vendors and products in order to contribute to the maximization of gross profit and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions :
Manage profit through proper market knowledge, hedging strategies and pricing recommendations.
Interdepartmentally collaborate on inventory control, including lifecycle of product and assists in project management of all sourcing activities.Interdepartmental motivation through continuous training and mentorship by proving clear communication.Assist in the negotiation with suppliers to obtain competitive offerings and the best quality and service levels.Assist with the management of the relationship with suppliers according to G&C principles.Customer Acquisition and Retention :Communicate to customer as often as needed to establish regular sales orders, complying with order minimums and frequency of G&C delivery schedule.
Sales and Purchasing Strategy and Execution :Manages category supplier relations. Conducts regular meetings and implements improvement strategies with suppliers. Creates enhanced supplier relationships according to G&C principles. Continuously look for new vendors to ensure we have the best vendor base.
Executes category inventory sourcing strategies, supplier selection criteria, negotiations and ongoing supplier management.Continuously look for new vendors by conducting regular supplier recruitment meetingsProduct Knowledge :Possess a deep understanding of our product portfolio, including food items, packaging, and pricing structures.
Proficient understanding of commodity selling and market dynamics.In-depth industry knowledge across segments such as retail, foodservice, and discount.Mastery of product verbiage to effectively communicate product features, benefits, and specifications.Provide customers with product information, training, and support to enhance their overall experience leveraging G&C’s online Market.Cross-functional Collaboration :Collaborates interdepartmentally as needed as it relates to supply management.
Build and foster a sound working relationship interdepartmentally.Reporting and Analysis :Follow category management performance by adhering to internal goals and initiatives through annual budgeting process.
Monitor supplier performance to ensure that delivery dates, technical and contractual requirements are met . As well as terms, freight income opportunities, redistribution and marketing program income, customer bill backs and supplier key performance indicatorsReview Stock Status Reports and initiate purchase orders daily to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.Review purchase order, purchase order confirmations and inventory reporting and documents to ensure adequate inventory on hand is kept.Regular and timely communication with all departments regarding market conditions, and supply chain disruptions.Assist in the development of goals focusing on inventory turns, aging inventory, obsolete and slow-moving inventory, gross profit and budgeted annual tonnage.Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree or related experience required.3-5 years of Retail or Food Service purchasing experience required.Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook preferredStrong communication skills.Business development and relationship building is essential.Benefits :
