Duties and Responsibilities: Under limited supervisor, the applicant should demonstrate capabilities to do the following:
· Performs natural gas pipeline safety investigations, evaluations, and analysis of specialized areas of all natural gas utility operators of distribution, transmission, and LNG (liquefied natural gas) systems in Georgia.
· Performs investigative techniques beyond the normal scope to determine issues of considerable complexity and sensitivity in natural gas pipeline accident investigations throughout Georgia.
· Assists in safety training for operators and the industry concerning natural gas pipeline systems.
· Responsible for evaluation of natural gas utilities in determining operator compliance with applicable State and Federal safety regulations.
· Responsible for writing inspection reports and other requested information.
Minimum Training and Experience:
· 2- or 4-year degree in Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited college or university,
· Minimum of 8 years experience in natural gas operations, natural gas pipeline construction (natural gas pipeline welding, natural gas pipeline plastic fusion, or other natural gas pipeline installation/operational disciplines), or
· Supervisory role with a gas distribution or transmission operator or an underground pipeline operator. Applicant should have general knowledge of the construction, maintenance, testing, or repair of natural gas pipeline systems.
· Must be a Georgia resident.
Preferred: Prior regulatory experience in the enforcement of natural gas pipeline safety regulations at the Federal or State level.

Exam and Evaluation Information: Selected candidate is required to:
· Pass the Federal Training and Qualification courses needed to serve as a lead inspector on standard inspections of gas pipeline systems.
· Progress through required courses, including all applicable Web-Based Training courses that serve as prerequisites to the required training.
· Required Federal Courses: Gas Pressure Regulation, Plastic Materials, Welding Inspection, Pipeline Failure Investigation, Corrosion Control, and Federal Code Compliance.
· Training courses are 5 days and are in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
· Complete a knowledge-based writing evaluation
All candidates must pass a background check and is subject to random drug testing throughout their employment.
