What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at GA Telesis, LLC?
We are looking for a self-motivated and independent Buyer to join our international and dynamic team, specializing in jet engine repairs, located at Helsinki Vantaa Airport premises. The Buyer’s role will involve purchasing spare parts, materials, and supplies for jet engines, as part of the Procurement team, which currently consists of 14 professionals.
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for converting purchase requests into purchase orders (PO) and requests for quotation (RFQ), managing delivery control, and keeping the manager updated on PO status. You will also respond to vendor inquiries and provide additional order documentation or information as needed. Working closely with material planning, you will help find the most customer-oriented and cost-effective procurement solutions. In addition to procuring engine materials, you will also handle various indirect purchases. Depending on your interests, you may have the opportunity to participate in procurement development projects.
The ideal candidate will have a technical or commercial education, or previous experience in similar roles, along with a strong understanding of supply chain management concepts. You should also possess the ability to network across functions and geographical borders, collaborating effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
At GATES, we prioritize teamwork and close collaboration, which is why we expect our employees to work on-site at our office. The procurement team is based primarily at our Logistics facility in Vantaa Aviapolis, with occasional workdays at our main facility located at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Responsibilities:
• Overall responsibility for operational purchasing tasks
• Daily supplier management
• Follow up on and report shipping data
• Maintain detailed records and prepare/submitting necessary reports
• Act as the primary point of contact for any purchasing-related issues
• Take ownership of ad hoc tasks and handle them independently
• Investigate and develop relationships with new suppliers
• Resolve order-related issues in an efficient and timely manner

• Technical or commercial education, or relevant experience in a logistics environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Finnish
• Proficiency in ERP systems
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications
