Purpose
Facilitates the timely purchase of supplies, services, and outside sub-contracting services for operations. Position is supportive to all areas of operations.
Essential Job Functions
· Prepare and distribute bids to qualified vendors
· Effective communication and negotiation skills
· Purchase all services and supplies, including Factory Stores, through approved requisition and/or Factory Stores order report utilizing spot buy purchase orders and/or consignment and blanket purchase orders.
· Sub-Contracting services are negotiated, processed, and expedited in conjunction with operations requirements.
· Enter all Purchase Orders into system and maintain files with backup information
· Source and update vendors as required. Control and maintain vendor insurance certificates and hold harmless agreements.
· Follow up on all orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
· Maintain constant communication with the team and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
· Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
· Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
· Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
· Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements
· A minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing organizations with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
· Strong contract experience, including the ability to handle multiple orders simultaneously.
· Thorough knowledge of purchasing procedures and practices, excellent communication, and negotiation skills.
· Strong computer literacy with ability to manage multiple data bases, data entry skills and ability to search and pull-down data.
· Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems is desirable.
· Strong Excel/Microsoft Office skills essential.
· Good interpersonal skills.
· Attention for detail.
· Ability to work in a faced past environment.
· Good time management skills.
· Flexibility to work after hours or weekends as needed
· Strong understanding of inventory forecasting.
US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under the U.S. export control laws and regulations (including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, or defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
