As Procurement Administrator you will play a crucial role in supporting production by ensuring the design and procurement of parts that are manufacturable and meet quality standards. This role involves collaborating with vendors to secure quality products, preventing production of defective parts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE :
Manage the sourcing of parts, materials, and tooling as required.
Negotiate prices with suppliers and provide cost and supplier recommendations.
Maintain accurate records for tooling, drawings, pricing, and supplier details.
Ensure proper scheduling, ordering, and inventory control of parts / materials for new model trials.
Evaluate and assess suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
Investigate cost-reduction opportunities (VA / VE) with suppliers.
Identify and develop new suppliers to support production needs.
Pack and ship Nihon Plast orders for new model trials.
Ensure compliance with all certifications obtained by the company.
Analyze market trends for materials and components.
Support compliance with company certifications (e.g., J-Sox, TS16949, ISO14001).
Contribute to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION :
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
Strong negotiation skills with suppliers.
Experience in Kaizen activities and process improvement with suppliers.
Manufacturing background and understanding of procurement processes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Business, or a related field, or 3-5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access); familiarity with PowerPoint and Project.
Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems is a plus.
