As a Procurement Administrator in the automotive industry, you will be an essential part of the production team, ensuring that parts are designed and sourced in alignment with manufacturing requirements and industry quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the sourcing and procurement of automotive parts, materials, and tooling required for vehicle production.
- Negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers while providing recommendations on cost-effective suppliers.
- Maintain detailed records of tooling, specifications, drawings, pricing, and supplier information.
- Ensure accurate scheduling, ordering, and inventory management of parts/materials for prototype and production trials.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers based on quality, cost efficiency, and delivery performance within the automotive supply chain.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and work with suppliers to implement improvements.
- Research and onboard new suppliers to meet production demands and ensure continuous supply chain support.
- Handle logistics for packaging and shipping of automotive parts for new model trials.
- Ensure compliance with industry certifications and standards (e.g., ISO/TS16949, ISO14001).
- Analyze market trends and technology advancements related to automotive components and materials.
- Contribute to the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process to ensure the quality of automotive components.
- Perform other procurement-related duties as assigned.
- Strong ability to read and interpret automotive blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on automotive suppliers.
- Experience in continuous improvement activities (e.g., Kaizen) within the automotive industry.
- Background in automotive manufacturing and an understanding of the procurement lifecycle for automotive parts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in an automotive supply chain context.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or 3-5 years of relevant automotive procurement experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access); knowledge of PowerPoint and Project is a plus.
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems used in automotive manufacturing is preferred.
