Team SummaryThis is a challenging and rewarding role focused on supporting a number of key Finance initiatives to better enable our manufacturing business during an exciting time of organizational transformation.Job SummaryWe are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and help us as we continue to evolve our Finance and Accounting processes. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and a proactive team player with superb interpersonal and collaborative skills. The Senior Accountant should exercise independent judgment to critically evaluate processes and provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff as needed.Essential Duties
- Prepare and review various journal entries within PeopleSoft ERP in connection with month-end close that is completed in 4-days.
- Be acclimated with using disparate applications in order to execute analysis.
- Conduct and review complex accounting analyses and month-end GL reconciliations and rollforward processes which also require research, analysis and independent judgment.
- Proficiency in lease accounting (ASC842) and maintaining lease accounting software.
- Assist staff accountants with day-to-day financial matters, reports and questions. Provide support and mentorship.
- Work with accounting manager and senior director with the coordination of monthly and quarterly reviews, as well as the year end audit. Generate and interpret financial records and statements for management.
- Fulfill requests of Standard Industries tax team in connection with periodic tax filings.
- Load approved annual budget at beginning of each fiscal year, and establish monthly recurring entries based on budgetary data.
- Proactively address inquiries from other departments, be responsive, and close matters down timely.
- Evaluate processes for improvements, and create process documentation.
- Play an integral role in new process implementation resulting from business changes and accounting rule updates.
- Routinely collaborate with Plant Accounting Managers and Corporate Stakeholders; propose and execute solutions in response to their needs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Accounting Required
- 4 or more years of experience within an Accounting or Finance environment
- Intermediate knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures
- Analytical and statistical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a team environment
- Acclimation with using disparate applications
- Process analysis and implementation
- 4 or more years of experience within a public accounting experience is preferred specific to financial statement and internal control audits Preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills; Peoplesoft software would be a plus
