What are the responsibilities and job description for the Craftsman/Technician position at Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools?
SUMMARY: To help maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Demonstrates sound judgment and emotional stability.
· Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others.
· Ensures the safety of students.
· Interacts with staff, students and the community in a positive and respectful manner.
· Repairs/maintains all types of heating ventilating and air conditioning equipment (HVAC).
· Repairs, replaces, maintains, monitors and calibrates control panels and thermostats of all systems to maintain standard working temperatures.
· Installs/tests new equipment.
· Accurately orders/accounts for material/labor in relation to assignments.
· Repairs/maintains kitchens and associated equipment.
· Maintains all safety and code requirements of state/local and Board of Education guidelines.
· Knowledge of kitchen and refrigeration equipment, including combi-ovens and dishwashers.
· Understanding of gas fired equipment.
· Basic electrical experience. Able to read wiring diagrams.
· May be required to be on 24-hour call.
· Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or equivalent with five years related previous experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
· Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
· Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
· Valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record.
· Certification in HVAC and use of CFC refrigerants.

Pay: $26.58 - $30.00 per hour
