Summary/Objective:
The EMR Analyst is a member of the Galen EMR health care team and is responsible for programming, maintenance, and functional/technical support of the Electronic Medical Record utilized by a multi-specialty physician practice group. Support functions include but are not limited to the normal maintenance of business, interface, upgrades, testing, maintenance of systems, data extraction for reporting, access control, and database build activities.
Essential Functions:
- Actively and consistently supports the mission, vision, and values of Galen Medical Group by providing excellent care delivered with wisdom, compassion, integrity, and a commitment to technology, education, and scientific inquiry
- Demonstrated working knowledge of MS Applications (Excel, PP, Word), VB, JavaScript, SQL, and other program languages; automating files utilizing Secure File Transfer Protocols
- Must be proficient in Crystal reporting writing, creating reports from the EMR with the ability to analyze file structure and transform raw data into finished products
- Complete monthly reports for management or on-demand if requested by HIT Director in a timely manner
- Project coordination and analysis capabilities for upgrades, changes, and implementation of HL7 interfaces
- Research Termination List when received from the HR Director and report feedback to HIT Director and Managers
- Responsible for managing Help Desk tickets, ensuring customers receive timely follow up
- Ability to interact with physicians, staff, patients, vendors, insurance companies and other customers to troubleshoot and/or resolve incidents, service requests, and changes
- Ability to work with different applications, vendors, customers, and staff to assist and/or resolve problems
- Perform weekly EMR and Portal testing for new releases and patches with the customer/vendor, and monitor performance after implementation, ensuring timely communication and follow-up; working together as a team with the other EMR team members
- Ability to recognize, research, and combine duplicate patient accounts in the EMR system
- Communicate with other provider offices to obtain their Direct Address for sending/receiving Direct Messages for MU
- Process Daily Error Logs - communicate any issues back to providers/facilities or build interface mapping to correct
- Setup new Providers/Staff security setting to EMR; link to PCIS PM system, NewCrop, task groups, room setup, visit permissions, order tracking, etc. Modify/Terminate
- Add Manual Lab template for results as requested and Map Lab Order and LOINC codes for interface
- Update Clinic Settings with cross-reference mapping and other set up files as requested by HIT Director
- Obtain and import provider signature to create letter templates for their letters
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED codes for alignment and updates within the EMR
- Participate in monthly and quarterly meetings, as requested by HIT Director
- Respects patients by recognizing their rights and maintaining the confidentiality
- Follow established change control policies for supported applications
- Assist with the training class, forms, templates, macros as needed
- Assist Non-Galen (external) users by granting VPN remote access, assist with logging in, and troubleshooting other login issues
- Assist IT, staff, with Active Directory issues and troubleshooting
- Assist Business Office with issues and testing for updates with the interface
- Must be able to fulfill other job duties as assigned by HIT Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelors Degree in computer science, computer programming, or comparable education and experience required.
- Formal ICD-10 Training and Education preferred.
- Clinical and Coding Experience a plus.
Experience
- Minimum of two years experience working in a healthcare information technology setting, including HL7 Interfaces
- Experience with Crystal Report Writing;
- Understanding of program languages SQL, VB, Java, etc
- Expertise in MS Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Web Browser Applications; DameWare/Remote Access
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records software
Skills/Certifications
- Excellent customer service skills, exceptional skills of independence, organization, verbal and written communication, problem-solving, professional interaction, and human relation skills, as well as analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
- Must be PC literate with strong computer navigational skills, as well as extensive knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and Crystal Report writing.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology required.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn; Must be team player, within and outside of the IT department
- Proficient with processes to build teams and participate in cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work within specified timeframe requirements, including timeframes for goal achievement.
