Procurement Specialist
Summary
The Procurement Specialist must be able to perform complex duties and exercise excellent judgement with decision making and problem solving. Must also be comfortable working and making independent decisions in a high volume fast-paced environment.
This role is not a remote position. The position is in person in Belleville, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Review MRP requirements - Issue and amend purchase orders according to commitments, forecasts, inventory levels and lead times.
- Negotiate with suppliers concerning price and terms of sale.
- Develop and manage supplier relationships while actively sourcing and developing new suppliers.
- Maintain and update basic ERP data (i.e. safety stocks, reorder points, item master information, lead times, etc.) as required to maintain an optimal flow of material.
- Recommend expedites and de-expedites based on MRP requirements or based on needs from operations team.
- Interact with other departments (Operations, Sales, Finance, Receiving, etc.) in analyzing and solving complex purchasing and planning problems, such as conformance to quality, material scheduling, receiving and price disputes.
- Investigate and solve problems resulting from supply shortages, including exploring alternate suppliers and substitute materials.
- Solicit and evaluate RFQ’s from existing and viable potential supplier options.
- Monitor supplier quality and delivery and take action to ensure the improvement process is in place as needed with suppliers.
- Assist with month end responsibilities, audits and other projects.
- Other duties will include but not be limited to typing, data entry, scanning, copying, faxing, as well as support in other accounting roles such as invoice confirmation and maintenance of Galleher’s electronic files.

Qualifications, Education or Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (Business Management preferred) or equivalent of 5 years of experience in procurement OR equivalent broad knowledge of operational and supply chain disciplines, such as material control and purchasing.
