Welder

JOB SUMMARY:

As a Sheet Metal Welder, you will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling sheet metal products (16 & 18ga stainless steel, galvanized , and Galvinized) and using various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. The role involves interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting metal, and ensuring high-quality standards and safety protocols are followed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Welding & Fabrication: Use welding equipment to join, cut, or shape sheet metal components, ensuring structural integrity and quality.

• Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the correct welding techniques and materials needed.

• Quality Control: Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet the required standards, specifications, and tolerances.

• Metal Preparation: Cut, trim, and prepare metal sheets or components before welding, ensuring proper fit-up for assembly.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and wear protective gear (e.g., helmets, gloves, and eye protection) while working with welding equipment and sheet metal.

• Maintenance: Maintain and care for welding tools and equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other welders, fabricators, and production staff to complete projects on time and within budget.

• Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot welding and metalworking issues to ensure quality outcomes and minimize errors or rework.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Vocational training or apprenticeship in welding or metal fabrication is a plus.

• Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Welder or similar welding role.

• Strong knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) and metal fabrication processes.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.

• Excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity to work with welding equipment.

• Strong attention to detail with an ability to maintain high-quality standards.

• Knowledge of safety practices and the ability to comply with safety regulations.

• Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) preferred.

• This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage).

• This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and standing for long periods of time. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move more than 50 pounds.
