NSC Technologies seeks skilled direct-hire welders for exciting shipyard work in New Orleans, LA. We believe that people should love what they do, and in this role, you'll have the chance to showcase your welding expertise in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform welding of aluminum materials in all positions, including overhead and mirror welding.
• Execute tack welding while kneeling, standing, sitting, and lying down.
• Navigate bulkheads and ladders safely while performing welding tasks.
• Operate jacks, porta-powers, and come-along, lifting and maneuvering tools weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Load and unload materials and tools, ensuring safe handling practices.
• Crawl through confined spaces and maneuver through tight compartments.
• Maintain flexibility in posture, bending and twisting as necessary to reach various work areas.
• Operate cranes and forklifts as required for job tasks.
• Utilize power tools (gougers, skill saws, cut saws, grinders) safely, ensuring proper handling with both hands.
• Walk on uneven surfaces, such as tops of frames and tees, while maintaining balance and safety.

Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of relevant welding experience.
• Proven welding skills demonstrated through a welding test.
• Note: Level and compensation will be based on relevant experience and skill set.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED certificate.

Physical Demands:
This position requires a range of physical capabilities to perform essential functions safely and effectively. Key demands include:

• Postural: Ability to maneuver extremities and spine in various postures, from floor to overhead, including flexing and twisting.
• Dexterity: Good manual dexterity, frequently using one or both hands for tools and material handling.
• Cardiorespiratory Fitness: Sufficient fitness to perform medium work involving constant standing, walking, and material handling in a hot, humid environment.
• General Activities: Involves standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and balancing. Requires clear communication, good vision, and depth perception.
• Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds independently and participate in team lifts up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment: You will work in shipyards, aboard vessels, or in industrial settings where attention to detail, quality work, and adherence to safety protocols are essential. Projects will involve hands-on welding and supervision of helpers, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
