The Control Systems Engineer will participate in the recommendation, design, development, installation, and maintenance of production equipment, as well as conducting extensive development and programming in the Foxboro Distributed Control System (DCS) and other PLC-controlled systems. The role requires developing and maintaining positive business relationships with employees, contributing to the creation of effective manufacturing process SOPs to maximize yield while meeting customer quality and delivery expectations, recommending, managing, and communicating continuous improvement projects within the engineering department, serving as the engineering resource for troubleshooting and optimizing the manufacturing process, and efficiently coordinating and managing engineering activities in support of the Company’s objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensure engineering activities are executed with a focus on Food Safety and Personal Safety, while leading and coordinate justifiable process improvement projects, develop criteria and implement projects that convert current manual processes to automatic control using the Foxboro system control. (including code, logic, graphics, hardware, documentation, and training)
Lead and coordinate the troubleshooting process using trends and other analysis tools.
Assist Process Owners in setting up data collection for KPIs, designing, building, and commissioning new processes within the Foxboro DCS, and developing and implementing test strategies to satisfy preventative maintenance action plans.
Utilize Galloway’s project management system to involve all affected process owners when developing and implementing projects and process changes, providing hands-on support for Foxboro DCS, ensuring engineering conformance to all regulatory requirements.
Assist in creating manufacturing process SOPs for new processes.
Flexibility in hours is required, with some weekend/holiday work and after-hours call-in support for the engineering group on a rotating basis.
Position Requirements:
4-year degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Software Engineering with relevant experience.
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing organization.
Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) management experience.
Proven experience in programming and code writing skills in a DCS or PLC management environment.
Experience working with Foxboro DCS is desired.
Engineering experience in a project management environment is desired.
Ability to work collaboratively in a highly regulated industry.
Good organizational skills and ability to monitor and coordinate activities under your direction.
Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and influencing skills, and an ability to transfer knowledge.
Solid computer skills, including MS Office applications.
Experience with AutoCAD and SQL Database is desired.
