POSITION: ECDC Children’s Center Director
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Associate Pastor/Minister to Families
SUPERVISES: ECDC Children’s Center Staff
DESCRIPTION: This position ministers to children, parents, staff, and the community by directing the operations of the church’s childcare facility in a manner that ensures the health and welfare of staff and children.
Position is 40 hours, exempt classification, Monday – Friday. Hours are set in conjunction with the Associate Director to ensure on-site director or director designee at all times.
DUTIES:
1. Responsible for the overall operation of the Children’s Center and overseeing the day-to-day operations.
2. Responsible for calendaring all Children’s Center activities in coordination with Galloway’s larger church calendar to avoid any conflict of scheduling or overlapping activities.
3. Attend Galloway’s staff meeting. If this is not feasible due to the week’s schedule and staffing within the Children’s Center, submit activity items to be listed on the staff agenda that has overall staff and/or building implications.
4. Responsible for ensuring that the Center meets all federal and state legal requirements, including the State of Mississippi childcare regulations.
5. Responsible for all hiring and personnel matters (training, reviews, discipline, etc.)
6. Responsible for continuing education, first aid and CPR for staff.
7. Responsible for management of the property of the Children’s Center area, including playground and cafeteria in conjunction with Facility Manager.
8. Responsible for setting up, defining, and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum for all children at the center, taking into consideration different development stages
9. Responsible for conducting tours of the Center and recruiting children.
10. Liaison between the church, community, and Center. Works in conjunction with Galloway Children’s Ministry Director to intentionally extend invitations to the Children Center parents to church events. And, likewise, work intentionally to promote Children Center activities within the congregation.
11. Coordinate with Galloway’s Director of Music for development of children’s musical programing.
12. Reports to the Associate Pastor/Minister to Families, while working in conjunction with the Children’s Center Committee.
13. Responsible for the financial processes (budget, monthly reports, vouchers), including all purchasing on behalf of the Center. Works closely with Galloway’s Administrator in formulating a balanced budget and maintaining expenditure within budget.
14. Responsible for contracting maintenance crew and pest control in conjunction with Galloway’s Maintenance Director
15. Network with other directors and childcare agencies.
16. Responsible for publicity for the Center.
17. Responsible for Employee files.
18. Responsible for children’s files and immunization files, unless delegated – ultimately responsible for all information.
19. Build and maintain a relationship with families by providing information and education materials.
20. Responsible for maintaining reasonable communication with parents of the children at the Center.
21. Responsible for developing and maintaining adequate security measures in conjunction with the Trustee Committee of Galloway.
22. Responsible for developing emergency response plans for various weather and man-made scenarios.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or Christian education and three (3) years of experience in a childcare center. Master’s degree and supervisory experience preferred.
