What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Medical Assistant position at Ganger Dermatology?
Are you passionate about health and dermatology? Join our dermatology practice as a specialized Mohs Surgical Medical Assistant, while maintaining standard MA responsibilities throughout our dermatology clinic. As a Surgical MA, you will play a crucial role in assisting providers and Histology Technicians. You will also transition to a Dermatology MA, assisting in standard Dermatology procedures. Here at Ganger Dermatology, you'll gain invaluable experience and make a tangible difference in patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for Mohs surgery, including pre-surgical evaluations and post-operation care instructions. Perform wound care and dressing changes.
- Injection administration, specifically local anesthesia. Accurately draw and mix medication.
- Set up surgery trays, sterilize and package instruments and equipment, prep and disassemble the operating room.
- Manage medical documentation pre and post operation.
- Take photographs of Mohs stages and organize them.
- Assist with specimen collection and lab testing.
- Flexibly float between non-surgical MA responsibilities to Surgical MA responsibilities.. Non-surgical responsibilities include: scribing, performing dermatology intakes, and assisting in standard dermatology procedures.
Patient Care:
- Demonstrate comfortability delivering patient education during highly sensitive situations.
- Maintain a calming and understanding bedside manner toward patients.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in outpatient surgical assistance, preferably in a Mohs department.
- Comfortability with medical documentation and EMR systems.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Availability on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Salary : $17 - $20
