MMA Junkie Digital Producer
We are looking for a qualified candidate to serve as a digital content producer for USA TODAY Sports' award-winning mixed martial arts website, MMA Junkie.
The candidate should have a passionate interest and strong knowledge of MMA. He or she should be ready to react to the day's happenings in MMA by creating written content for the website – including news stories, blog posts, commentary pieces, and more – as well as contributing to video content; deliver sharp, creative headlines; and demonstrate strong news judgment.
This person should be prepared to collaborate with other members of the MMA Junkie staff for the creation of creative content that will engage our audience. Knowledge of SEO best practices and experience in video editing are a plus.
Responsibilities:
Deliver MMA news via stories, blog posts, video, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other methods available to reach our audience.Work with managers in planning ahead for event-based coverage. Work with teammates to experiment with new ways of informing and engaging audiences on social platforms. This includes experimenting with evergreen content. Be a self-starter who is eager to create content for the passionate MMA audience.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 3-5 years of digital journalism experience. MMA media experience is preferred. Able to produce content across platforms: mobile, desktop, and social media. Strong command of AP grammar and style. Passionate and enthusiastic about MMA news and content that will work well with audiences on social platforms. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to multi-task. Collaborate well with others and can work with a team that is remote, across the world. Prepared to work fight nights and have a flexible schedule as needed. Employment is contingent on passing a post-offer pre-employment background check.
