Position Summary
The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Criminal Justice to begin August 2025. Area of specialization is open with preference to candidates with prior law enforcement experience at the local, state and/or federal level. The successful candidate will teach in-person undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice, and online graduate courses in the Master of Science in Criminalistics, will connect students with criminal justice agencies for internships and career opportunities, and should be able to integrate lived experiences into course content. Previous online teaching experience and willingness to incorporate emerging technology used in the criminal justice field is preferred.
The successful candidate will advise students and prepare them intellectually, professionally, and personally, and will be expected to engage in service to the profession and community as is appropriate to the application for and receipt of promotion at Gannon. Requirements include an earned master’s or doctoral degree in Criminal Justice or a related field (completed by time of appointment) and demonstrated teaching excellence in higher education. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.
