What are the responsibilities and job description for the EEO Mediator position at Gant Global Services GGS Inc?
GGS is seeking experienced Mediators to mediate and/or facilitate the resolution of EEO Complaints filed by federal employees. Your role as a mediator is that of a neutral third party not taking sides or making decisions for the parties involved. You will guide the parties through the negotiation process and help them communicate effectively, listening to both sides of the dispute and helping identify the underlying causes of the conflict. You will then work with the parties to reach a voluntary, mutually acceptable resolution to the complaint. The mediation process and the information shared by the parties are strictly confidential.
Some of your responsibilities as a mediator may include:
- Conducting pre-mediation meetings with each party to explain the mediation process and gain a better understanding of their positions.
- Ensuring each party has an equal opportunity to speak and be heard during the mediation.
- Facilitating a dialogue between the parties while maintaining a neutral and non-judgmental stance.
- Helping parties identify potential solutions and guiding them in reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement.
- Drafting a written agreement for the parties to sign once an agreement has been reached.
- Other responsibilities may arise.
Mediator Skills:
As a mediator, strong communication and negotiation skills are essential. Mediators must be able to effectively communicate with all parties involved in a dispute and be able to negotiate a solution that is agreeable to all parties. Along with communication and negotiation skills, mediators must also have a firm understanding of the law and legal procedures related to the specific dispute.
Additionally, mediators must also demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skill in using virtual platforms to conduct mediations, including separate caucuses with the parties involved.
