Garcia’s Chicago, a stunning, 300-capacity seated concert venue inspired by landmark jazz clubs, will open in early 2025, offering an elevated music and dining experience in the heart of Chicago’s West Loop, the city’s premier dining district. Garcia’s Chicago will prioritize exceptional musical curation, artful interior design, and state-of-the-art acoustics. The food and beverage program promises to be among the finest of any concert venue in the country.

This exciting new venture is the latest from Peter Shapiro and Dayglo Presents (Brooklyn Bowl, The Capitol Theatre, Bearsville Theater) in partnership with the Jerry Garcia Estate. This venue will celebrate Jerry Garcia’s eclectic artistry and heritage, drawing from his Spanish roots, his Northern Californian upbringing, and his deep connection to Jazz, Americana, and World music. Garcia’s Chicago will be a welcoming space for music lovers and artists of all kinds and an innovative experience in live concert venues.

Job Description

Garcia’s Chicago is seeking a Food Server to become an integral part of our team. The Food Server is responsible for all stages of the meal, such as menu clarification, placing orders, and making certain orders are prepared correctly as well as presented in accordance with departmental specifications. They present the food and beverage check and take payment and are ultimately responsible for the appearance of their station (meaning proper setup for the meal being served, and cleanliness). They must treat the guest with the utmost courtesy and respect in addition to meeting their needs and requests so as to ensure an enjoyable experience and future patronage.

Responsibilities

❖ Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the dining or service area to meet departmental standards

❖ Greet and make all guests feel welcome

❖ Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely fashion

❖ Ensure the guest has an enjoyable experience

❖ Possess in-depth knowledge of all menu items and specials, including ingredients, preparation methods, etc

❖ Ensure appropriate utensils and condiments are present for the meal being served

❖ Check all tables to ascertain guest needs and remain attentive

❖ Ensures that all phases of the meal are carried out appropriately, from the time the guests are seated until their departure

❖ Pay attention to special requests and relays all information to kitchen and management in detail

❖ Obtain food and drink orders from guests; Make appropriate suggestions and follow all set service standards and sequence of service

❖ Collect and process payment

❖ Use POS system to input orders accurately and efficiently

❖ Communicate any problem or guest concern to management in a timely manner

❖ Knowledge of and compliance with Health Code and Alcohol Regulations

❖ Work together as part of a team to provide the best overall guest experience

Qualifications

❖ High School graduate or equivalent preferred

❖ Valid Food Worker / Health Card required

❖ Valid Alcohol Awareness Card required

❖ Previous experience in customer service, food service, restaurant or other related fields

❖ Ability to build rapport with guests

❖ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

❖ Possesses basic math and reading skills

❖ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

❖ Ability to become familiar with menu, preparation procedures and prices

❖ Ability to work closely and efficiently with others

❖ Previous experience working in a high-volume restaurant

❖ Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

❖ Ability to carry a trey ranging up to approximately 20-35 pounds

❖ Ability to move throughout the restaurant, work area, or venue during the entire shift

❖ Ability to work in an environment with loud music and crowds for extended periods of time

❖ Ability to stand or stay in a stationary position throughout entire shift

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.20 per hour
