Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our dynamic team in a clinical laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination, ensuring high-quality results that contribute to accurate diagnoses. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, and medical terminology, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and process tissue specimens for histological examination, including embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain an aseptic environment.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate specimen analysis.
- Assist in specimen collection processing and perform phlebotomy as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory results and patient information.
- Conduct quality control checks on laboratory processes and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Stay current with advancements in histotechnology and participate in ongoing professional development.
Skills
- Proficient in laboratory procedures related to histology and specimen processing.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to patient care and laboratory settings.
- Experience with phlebotomizing and collecting vital signs is preferred.
- Familiarity with clinical laboratory environments, including hospital settings.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
Work Environment:
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements:
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
