What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Registrar position at Garden City Community College?
Role:
To assist the Registrar in accurate development and maintenance of all student records. To assist with registration procedures and providing information to students.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Assist with registration, oversee data entry, serve as information center, supervise generation and processing of student records. Supervise and train all student records staff and work study students.
- Stay abreast of all local, state and federal laws, as well as institutional policies affecting student records.
- Coordinate the issuance of timely certification rosters and oversees final grades. Assist with collection of class line schedule information and maintain schedule.
- Assist Registrar with honor rolls, probations, dismissals, determination of degree completions and commencement exercises.
- Process all materials necessary for Veterans Administration benefits.
- Certify athletic eligibility.
- Oversee enrollment and degree verifications through the National Student Clearinghouse.
- Complete evaluations and data entry for external transcripts.
- Assume duties of the Registrar in the event of the Registrar's absence.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: A Bachelor's degree.
Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
Other Skills: Excellent organizational and editing skills.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
