ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Finance Manager is responsible for the supervision and management of the day-to-day accounting functions and staff – accounts payable, accounts receivable, electronic banking, monthly reconciliations, ensuring and preparing accurate and timely financial statements and reports for review by the Chief Finance Officer, and ensuring the Agency’s internal control procedures, financial policies and procedures are adhered too.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Supervision and Management
- Manage the finance team and oversee the daily operations of the finance division, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, reporting and general accounting.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and tax requirements.
- Perform staff meetings and training sessions for finance staff.
- Assist with the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of accounting and payroll staff as required.
- Ensure staff maintains GOPYC”s financial policies and procedures and make recommendations to help improve operational efficiency
- Perform annual staff evaluations based upon individual hiring anniversary.
Reports, Reporting and Reconciliation
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analyze the financial results.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses for CFO review.
· Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger accounts.
· Prepare interim reports for funding sources as stipulated in the contracts and/or as required.
· Prepare financial reports for annual renewal of agency liability and workman’s compensation insurance
· Analyze and report cost variances.
· Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
Monitoring
· Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts.
· Monitor payroll postings and transfer of transactions from bank posting to QuickBooks
· Monitor the renewal date for GOPYC’s state sales tax exemption certification and prepare the necessary documentation required for renewal application.
Collaborative Responsibilities
· Assist with the budgeting process.
· Assist with implementation and upgrading of nonprofit accounting software systems.
· .Participate in special projects and financial reporting, as necessary.
· .Collaborate with external auditors during GOPYC’s annual audit and program audits.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related fields, with having completed some related continuing education, graduate studies. Master’s degree preferred.
· 5 years or more continuous proven accounting experience, preferred in nonprofit organizations with mid-range budgets.
· 2- 3 years of continuous supervisory and management experience.
· Strong working knowledge of computer-based accounting programs/software and applications for nonprofit organizations.
· Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
· Strong knowledge of multi funding sources and cost allocation.
· Demonstrated understanding of general accounting principles, GAAP.
· CPA or Public Accounting is a plus.
