OVERVIEW
The Materials Handler is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate handling and transport of physical inventory throughout the building and to perform systematic transfers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Successfully completes our in-house lift truck operator safety course, obtaining the ability to safely and proficiently operate the following materials handling equipment on a daily basis: Sit-Down Lift, Walkie-Rider, Man-Up Stock Picker/High Picker, and Stand-Up Double Reach/High Reach Lift.
- Is responsible for daily safety inspections of all trucks in use and bringing any issues to manager’s attention.
- Performs as a safety advocate for other machine operators and pedestrians alike.
- Understands and becomes proficient at the use of all materials handling software programs as well as the daily reporting schedule and routines. This includes replenishment routines and reports.
- Maintains good, clear communications within the department well as with other departments and staff in order to work effectively, achieve a good understanding of their needs, and to gain suggestions.
- Able to handle the physical check-in of product from vendor receipts.
- Obtain PO numbers and print proper receipt worksheets.
- Accurately check product against worksheet and packing list assuring correct counts, size, product, etc.
- Face sheet product, correctly identifying all critical information.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works both independently and as an effective member of the team.
- Comply with all warehouse safety guidelines.
- Work overtime as required.
- Remain flexible and willing to change task assignments as needed.
- Works as needed in other areas of the department such as Bin Filling, Receiving, and Bin Maintenance.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Possess math, computer & reading skills of a high school graduate (or equivalent) level.
- Proficient or able to become proficient in the safe operation of all material handling equipment.
- Detail oriented with effective communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that fosters and sustains successful relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK CONDITIONS
- Ability to constantly lift from 5-80 pounds.
- Ability to constantly lift, bend, reach, walk and stand during entire shift.
- Ability to open, cut, and handle boxes on a frequent basis.
- Ability to frequently push/pull with 5-80 pounds.
- Ability to frequently read inventory reports
- Able to work in a warehouse environment.
