QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree and MA License as a High School Assistant Principal/Principal
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student, support high school faculty and staff, and assist with the safe and orderly operations of the high school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school.
- Plans, organizes and directs implementation of school activities.
- Attends special events held to recognize student achievement and attends school-sponsored activities, functions and athletic events.
- Involved in the planning and implementation of teacher professional development.
- Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students. Prepares discipline letters and reports as required by the high school and the State of Massachusetts.
- Keeps principal informed of events and activities of an unusual nature as well as routine matters related to the supervisor’s accountability.
- Maintains active, positive relationships with students and parents.
- Evaluates staff members regarding their instruction, lesson planning and assessments and offers support and meaningful feedback on strengths and areas in need of improvement.
- Supervises teacher common planning time.
- Is a member of the high school MTSS Team and assists with data collection and analysis and offers insights on meaningful interventions.
- Oversees the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students.
- Conducts meetings with the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
- Makes arrangements for special conferences between parents and teachers.
- Works closely with the school's mental health team and assists in the creation and monitoring of student interventions.
- Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facility.
- Assists with supervision of the school crisis plan and an emergency preparedness program.
- Provides for adequate inventories of school property and for the security and accountability for that property.
- Responds to written and oral requests for information.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs.
- Assumes responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month position; salary and work year to be established by the superintendent
Salary : $98,000 - $110,000
