Join Garfield County Libraries as our full-time (40-hour-per-week) Events and Social Media Specialist in beautiful Garfield County! This exciting position allows you to harness your creativity in event coordination while promoting engaging library programs through compelling social media marketing . The Events and Social Media Specialist often conducts work outside of regular working hours, attending events in the evenings and on weekends.
Pay Range : $21.35 - $27.25 / hr. Actual placement is dependent on experience and education. Typically candidates are hired closer to the beginning of the pay range.

Overview of Key Responsibilities :
As the Events and Social Media Specialist you'll spend about 70% of your time focusing on events, programs, and outreach support; and 30% of your time on social media. You will support and collaborate with the Events Manager and branch staff to coordinate exciting library events and programs. Your role will encompass assisting with event logistics, including setup and providing on-site support to ensure everything runs smoothly. You'll also take on the essential task of facilitating hybrid events, bridging the gap between in-person and virtual experiences. Your creativity will shine as you capture and create engaging content for our platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
Additionally, you'll livestream events allowing our community to connect and engage with our library offerings. You will create positive experiences and deliver outstanding customer service to library patrons in many different ways while upholding our core values of Community, Inclusivity, Trustworthiness, Accountability, and Service. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Our ideal candidate is proficient in Google Suite, Canva (preferred), and has familiarity with video editing tools. They excel in executing various types of events and thrive in a diverse environment, engaging effectively with individuals of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and cultures. Strong communication is key, and we're looking for someone who speaks and writes clearly, with exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills. This role requires a team player who builds and maintains positive relationships, provides and receives feedback professionally, collaborates across all levels, and resolves conflicts with emotional intelligence and tact. Creative problem-solving, independent time management, and the ability to work within established guidelines and policies are essential traits. Additionally, you must be eligible for District vehicle insurance and able to use your own vehicle when necessary for travel around the District.

Qualifications : Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of public-facing library experience
- Two (2) years of event planning, program coordination, and / or community outreach experience
- Valid driver's license

Physical Demands :
This position requires the ability to work in a standard office setting using standard office equipment (computer, copier, phone, file cabinet). This position is not sedentary, the ability to move oneself about the Library and reach materials at various levels between the floor and above the shoulders is necessary. Occasionally it is necessary to move items that weigh 80 pounds or more, in all cases with the use of proper equipment and / or assistance from other staff. Occasionally it is necessary to stand on ladders. Often the ability to travel around the District is required to attend events from Parachute to Carbondale. Occasionally the ability to travel within and outside the District is needed to attend professional development opportunities or work-related meetings.
