Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture and landscape maintenance, with hands-on experience in various gardening techniques. This role involves nurturing plants, maintaining garden aesthetics, and ensuring the overall health of the landscape. The Gardener will work closely with other team members to create beautiful outdoor spaces that enhance the environment.
Garran-Teed Property Services is a full service property management company specializing in landscaping installation and maintenance, light duty tree work, hardscape installation and maintenance, light duty construction projects, and home watch services.
The Gardening Manager will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the health and beauty of our clients’ gardens and landscapes. This position involves planning and executing garden designs, assessing plant and soil health, selecting appropriate plants, and typical gardening tasks such as weeding, pruning, watering, mulching, and adding nutrients.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Cultivate and maintain gardens, including planting, pruning and shaping, trimming, staking, cultivating, fertilizing, spraying, weeding, transplanting, and watering
- Installs and maintains flowers, trees, shrubs, ground cover, hedges and grasses
- Irrigate plants effectively to promote healthy growth.
- Monitor plant health and diagnose issues related to pests or diseases.
- Collaborate with team members on landscape maintenance tasks.
- Keep accurate records of plant care activities and growth progress.
- Keeps landscape areas clean and orderly
- Coordinates the work or serves as lead man to employees performing gardening duties
- Keeps supervisor informed of the work performed by assigned employees
- Uses required tools and equipment skillfully and safely
- Reads and works from sketches
- Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools for various gardening tasks.
- Assist in the design and implementation of landscape projects.
- Perform lawn care activities such as mowing, edging, and fertilizing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Massachusetts Drivers License and reliable transportation
- Ability to drive heavy duty dump trucks and tow various size trailers with equipment preferred
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in landscaping
- Knowledge of proper lawn and plant care techniques
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift and move 50lbs
- Ability to irrigate effectively and manage water resources for plants.
- Strong understanding of growing conditions for various plant species.
- Attention to detail with a keen eye for aesthetics in garden design.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaborative work.
Attention to detail, reliability, customer service and safety are the most important parts of this position
Pay scale dependent on experience.
